Npower withdraw planning application for Nun Wood Wind Turbines

Members of BLOT are delighted that local residents have won round one of the fight with Npower who proposed to erect 16 wind turbines on a peaceful rural landscape between Bozeat - Lavendon and Harrold.

Npower withdrew their application after English Heritage came down on the side of local residents and made representations about the siting of the turbines along such a prominent ridge where they would have been visible for miles.

"We are delighted that Npower have withdrawn their planning application" said BLOT Spokesman Graham Mabbutt. "However we are concerned that they are planning to put in a new application, and have engaged a publicity company "Green Issues" to represent them and their new plans which are expected in late summer"

"We will be watching them, and will be ready and waiting to fight the second round. We will be keen to see if they are moving the wind turbines away from the ridge to which English Heritage objected, because if they do they will be moving them to an area that is less windy.  We will also be watching to see if they propose moving the turbines further away from the houses at the edges of Lavendon and Bozeat, and if in doing so they are moving them closer to Harrold.  We also want to see what effect any changes in the plans will have on the historic Three Shires Way.  We cannot see how they can meet these objections and still retain an economically viable site."

ENDS.
